Business Credit Scores and Business Credit

Building business credit is similar to personal credit, the only difference are the players. There are three business credit reporting agencies, Dunn & Bradstreet, Experian for Business and Equifax for Business. Business credit reports contain the business address, EIN number, creditor information, public records and a record of the inquiries. New business owners will want to ensure each of the bureaus open a file on their company and the information contained in it is accurate and complete.

Initial Net30 Business Credit Accounts

Initial business credit accounts are usually Net30 accounts. Before going out and applying everywhere, think things through.  Building business credit, just like building personal credit is a slow process.  Applying to to many places at one time, may flag your business or even block your company for a period of time.

Find a few company's that offer products or services your company will actual use.  Call the company and ask for the new account manager.  Request information for opening up a new account for a new business and be sure to ask them what requirements are needed prior to applying for an account.  Some of these companies require that you be in a certain industry or your business meet certain criteria before being granted an account.  You will want to find this information out first before wasting your time and theirs.
